About ARISE

In 2008-2010, members of the Professionals for Social Responsibility (Pro-SR) Iloilo actively opposed the 164MW Coal-Fired Power Plant in Iloilo due to potential violations of Clean Air Act. They advocated for clean renewable energy as alternative.

Following the devastating Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, Pro-SR aided in empowering mountain barangays in WV through the installation of solar charging stations, in partnership with Green Forum WV and Iloilo People’s Habitat Foundation (IPHF).

In October 13, 2015, a group of 7 people from Pro-SR Iloilo, IPHF, and Don Bosco Batch ‘84 gathered to formally launch a renewable energy cooperative. The ARISE Consumers Cooperative’s 1st Regular General Assembly was held in April 9, 2016.
